How it came to be
It all started way before the bakery even opened its doors to the public in 1983. Juan and Maricela come from two different backgrounds, but their love towards the business is the same. This passion began at a young age with Maricela growing up in her family’s business. Her parents owned a bakery/grocery store in South Side Chicago. It was called La Guadalupana. It would be here that Juan and Maricela would later meet. Juan became an apprentice to his father and began to master the art of baking. Later on they moved to the great state of Arizona. During this point in time they were having a difficulty finding work, so they turned to what they knew best. They then started baking from home to sell to their friends and family. From there the word on how great and delicious their pastries were began to spread around the town. Then not long after they knew they needed to open up a physical location.
